Mark Crotinger, Pastor
Pastor Mark has served as Senior Pastor at FBC Raton since June 1, 2013. He and wife Terry are first-time New Mexico residents, but have served in the Southwest part of the U.S. for over 22 years.
Born and raised in Dodge City, Kansas, he attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton, Texas, where he met Terry, his wife of 37 years. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree while there, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Doctor Of Ministry degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California. He served as a Minister of Music for 6-1/2 years and has served as a pastor since late 1983.
Terry has worked in the mental health field, has been a music teacher, and now has her own counseling practice. Terry has a million interests; she is a published writer/author and is an awesome lady.
The Crotingers have two grown daughters, Becky, and Missy. Missy’s husband Andy, granddaughter Sela Grace, and grand hound dog Georgia round out the family tree.
Mark enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, cooking, music of many kinds, and his favorite, cutting firewood. Of course, nothing can take first place over hanging out with Terry.
Mark’s ministry is focused on the Word of God: its teaching and preaching, obeying it, and structuring life and church by what it teaches. He is not fond of all the human wisdom and ideas that have diluted the church and made the mission the institution of church, rather than the Gospel of our Lord and raising up disciples to the ministry God has called them to. He advocates returning to the Bible in all of life, pure devotion to the Lord, and ministry in His name. Mark is a regular guy that God has called to shepherd one of His local congregations. Not much for show and pretense, he has often been described as down to earth, engaging, and easy to talk to.
Both Mark and Terry invite you to come and experience life together with us at First Baptist Church.
Mark wants you to feel free to contact him at 575-445-3571 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
